Introduction
Vacation Chamber Orchestras, or VaCO, was formed in 1994 and has since promoted 286 concerts in North Yorkshire, the Pennines, throughout Northern England & in Europe.
Over this time, nearly 650 young musicians have benefited from the fantastic experience of VaCO's residential courses; their fulfillment strengthened by the exceptional quality and professionalism of the orchestras and ensembles.
The locations for VaCO 's concerts are in areas where high-quality orchestral and chamber music performances are rare events. As a direct result, the organisation has built up a strong local community following of loyal patrons over the years.
VaCO's Objectives
- To provide residential courses for young musicians every vacation
- To provide valuable training, experience and opportunities for young musicians
- To encourage interest in and appreciation of music by promoting high-quality orchestral concerts, particularly in areas where such events are relatively infrequent
Special Events and News
VaCO is now endorsed by: English Chamber Orchesta, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Academy of St Martins in the Fields, Royal College of Music & Trinity College of Music
Quintin Ballardie (Artistic Director of English Chamber Orchestra) writes:
" For young musicians the transitional period between leaving their alma mater and becoming a full time member of the professional scene can be at the least confusing and in certain circumstances quite frightening. For this reason we enthusiastically support the invaluable work which VaCO is doing in preparing music students for the years ahead."
We are delighted to welcome EuraAudit UK as our new sponsors.
